Prenatal Nutrition

A balanced diet plays a key role in supporting a healthy pregnancy and reducing the risk of conditions such as excessive weight gain, gestational diabetes, and high blood pressure. While general nutrition recommendations apply to most expectant mothers, individual needs can vary. Prenatal nutritional counseling helps establish healthy eating habits tailored to support both the mother’s well-being and the baby’s optimal growth and development.

Because your baby receives nutrients directly from what you eat, choosing nutritious foods is essential. Certain foods, however, should be avoided during pregnancy due to potential risks. These include high-mercury fish, unpasteurized cheeses, undercooked meats, and unwashed produce. Limiting caffeine and avoiding alcohol are also recommended.

Our prenatal nutrition counseling services provides a personalized nutrition plan based on your individual health needs, lifestyle, and medical history. Nutritional counseling is valuable for all pregnant patients and is especially helpful for those with special diets, food allergies, eating disorders, or medical concerns. Ongoing follow-up allows your plan to evolve throughout pregnancy to best support you and your growing baby.
